Do we go inside Chinon fortress on the Rivau, Chinon and Villandry tour?
This stop is mainly a walk through the town of Chinon, with its narrow medieval streets, half-timbered houses and the banks of the Vienne River. You also see the royal fortress that dominates the town. If you want a full visit inside the fortress, mention it to your trip designer, who can adjust the timing.
Is this tour right for someone who loves roses and gardens?
It is one of our most garden-focused days. You go from Rivau's themed gardens and roses to Villandry, where three levels combine vegetable plots, ornamental beds in geometric patterns, water gardens and the Garden of the Sun. Chinon in between gives you a change of pace with a town walk. Roses are at their best in late spring and early summer.
How does this tour compare with the Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau and Chinon tour?
Both visit Villandry and Chinon. This one replaces Azay-le-Rideau with Rivau and its gardens, and treats Chinon as a town walk. Choose this version if gardens and village atmosphere matter more to you than château interiors. Choose the other if you want the Renaissance rooms of Azay-le-Rideau and time on Chinon's ramparts.
