Normandy is a region in France that is known for its rich history, stunning scenery, and delicious cuisine. Norman cuisine is a delightful blend of French flavors and regional specialties. It’s renowned for its creamy cheeses, fresh seafood, and apple-based delicacies. There are many ways to experience the culinary delights of Normandy. One option is to take private gourmet tours in Normandy with a driver-guide. This is a great way to avoid the crowds and get a personalized experience.

What foods is Normandy famous for?
Normandy is known for its creamy cheeses, fresh seafood and apple-based products. Camembert is the most famous cheese, alongside others named after Pays d'Auge towns such as Pont-l'Évêque and Livarot. Apples give the region its cider and Calvados, an apple brandy usually served as a digestif.
What is Calvados?
Calvados is an apple brandy made from fermented apples and aged for at least two years. It has a strong, fruity flavor and is often served neat or on the rocks as a digestif. On our gourmet tours, you visit a producer to see how it is made and taste it on site.
Where is the Pays d’Auge?
The Pays d'Auge is a rural area of Normandy, east of Caen, around towns such as Lisieux and Pont-l'Évêque. It is known for green hills, apple orchards, half-timbered farmhouses and its cheese, cider and Calvados. Most of our gourmet experiences in Normandy take place there.
Can a Normandy food tour handle dietary restrictions?
Our gourmet tours center on cheese, cider and Calvados, so tell your trip designer early if you avoid dairy or alcohol, or have allergies. Because the tours are private, the driver-guide can adapt the visits and tastings to your needs and suggest alternatives where possible.
Can I take a cooking class in Normandy?
Yes. Private cooking classes are among the gourmet experiences we offer in Normandy, alongside tastings of local cheeses, cider and Calvados. If you prefer to combine food and exercise, our e-bike gourmet tour in the Pays d'Auge adds oysters, Camembert and cider tastings to an 18-mile ride.
