The Château de Villandry is a 16th-century royal residence known for its beautiful gardens, which are considered to be some of the best in France. The Villandry gardens are laid out on three levels. The lower level is home to the ornamental vegetable garden, which is a feast for the eyes. The middle level holds the ornamental gardens, full of colorful flowers and boxwood patterns. The upper level is home to the water garden and its shaded walks. The Château de Villandry is a beautiful place to visit, and its gardens are a must-see for any visitor to the Loire Valley.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add another château to the Chenonceau and Villandry tour?
Yes. The core of the day is Chenonceau and Villandry, but your private tour can include other Loire châteaux, such as Amboise or Azay-le-Rideau. Adding one means less time in each garden, so tell your trip designer if you prefer depth or variety and they will balance the day.
Is the Chenonceau and Villandry tour a good choice for garden lovers?
Yes, it pairs two of the region's most admired gardens. At Chenonceau, the gardens are divided into sections with their own designs, colorful flower beds and shaped topiaries. Villandry is considered one of the finest gardens in France, with three levels that include an ornamental vegetable garden, flower gardens and an orchard. Visits of both châteaux add the history behind them.
What will we see on the drive between Chenonceau and Villandry?
The route takes you through the Touraine countryside and charming villages, and your driver-guide uses the time to share stories and anecdotes about the two châteaux and the region. If something catches your eye along the way, ask for a short stop: the private format makes that easy.
What is the Grand Gallery at Chenonceau?
It is the long hall built over the Cher River, with high ceilings and large windows on both sides overlooking the water. This gallery is what makes Chenonceau look like a bridge, and it is one of the highlights of this tour, along with the château's lavishly decorated 16th-century rooms.
