Does the driver-guide pick us up at our hotel for the Chenonceau and Chaumont tour?
Yes. On this tour your guide meets you at your hotel and stays with you through the whole day, from the floral workshop at Chenonceau to the gardens of Chaumont-sur-Loire. If you are staying somewhere else, such as a rental home, tell your trip designer where the pickup should take place.
What are the credentials of the florist at Chenonceau?
Jean-François Boucher is a European Junior Champion and French Vice Champion of floristry, and his creations decorate the rooms of Chenonceau. You spend an hour in his atelier making your own bouquet with his guidance, then visit the château, whose rooms are filled with furniture and works of art linked to the women who shaped its history.
What else is there at Chaumont-sur-Loire besides the garden festival?
The château itself, set high above the Loire, has permanent art installations that you explore after walking through the festival gardens. The International Garden Festival brings together themed gardens by designers from around the world, so the visit moves between contemporary gardens and art in a historic setting. The mood is quite different from the formal Renaissance gardens of other châteaux.
Can I do the Chenonceau and Chaumont tour outside the garden festival season?
The Chaumont International Garden Festival is seasonal and usually runs from April to early November. If you are traveling in winter or very early spring, check with your trip designer. They can confirm the current festival dates and, if needed, suggest replacing Chaumont with Villandry, as in our floral workshop and Villandry gardens tour.
