FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Can I do a Chambord, Cheverny and Blois day trip from Paris?
Yes. This private tour can start from Paris or from your hotel in the Loire Valley. Your driver-guide picks you up in a comfortable vehicle and uses the drive to introduce the three châteaux, so you arrive knowing their history. The three sites are close to one another around Blois, which keeps the driving between visits short.
What makes Cheverny different from the other Loire châteaux?
Cheverny is still privately owned by the same family, who have lived there for over 600 years. It is famous for its kennels of hunting dogs and its Tintin exhibition: Hergé used Cheverny as the model for Marlinspike Hall, Captain Haddock's home in the comics. Your private guided visit covers the kennels, the Tintin museum and the gardens.
Why is Blois castle known for its mix of architectural styles?
Blois was a royal home over several centuries, and successive owners added their own wings. As a result, Gothic, Flamboyant, Renaissance and Classical styles stand side by side within the same walls. On your private guided tour, the last stop of the day, you see the royal apartments and the famous staircase.
Do we get a private guided tour inside each château?
Yes. The program includes a private guided tour at each of the three stops. At Chambord you see the double helix staircase, the ornate rooms and the vast gardens. At Cheverny it is the kennels, the Tintin museum and the gardens, and at Blois the royal apartments. The commentary is tailored to your group, and you can ask questions as you go.
